Talking with a friend last night about the weather. Could be a pretty boring topic, but we were looking at it as Chicago vs. LA and could that factor sway us to move out west. (we threw in NYC, but he knew from living there previous, the winter's brutality is the same in Gotham as Chi) Every artist we talk to throws around the idea of LA at some point, more-so in the winter. It is always an offset to the sprawl or image consciousness of the SoCal. But I took the position that winter in Chicago is all in the mind. Seriously - it's just weather. Would I rather it be warmer? Sure. But if it's 10 degrees, just throw on a heavy coat, some thick gloves, boots and a good, warm hat. Don't let it get you down or put another way hold you down. And then there is Monday. It snowed. Not the first snow of year, not even close. But after that snow - flakes all over trees, white-lined streets, crunchy crunches under your feet. It's beauty.
