Thursday night Oucho Sparks set out to put on a spectical at the Portage Theater. But they fell a bit short, not in my eyes per se, but admitedly in theirs. The CD release party for Foriegn Cars and Robots called Photographs and Epitahs did in fact feature a marching band, flying saucer and theatrics.  There was also a glowing Mother Mary, sparklers and teddy bears in the audience.  At the set break the band told the crowd that they had prepared a 14 page script for the night but were only able to complete 40 percent of it. It was still an interesting attempt. The crowd was pretty small, I would guess about 40 percent of what they hoped for.  The theater - a truly sweet space - was cold, maybe due to lack of bodies. The show both musically and in presentation was worth the Thursday night. Check the pix here.
