Buck 65 (Reggie's tonight) is a hip-hop renaissance man.  His rap is pure, but his style swings from blues to avant garde.  Each show is unique and often wildly abstract.(and not always hip-hop) Spoken word DJ Bernard Dolan opens. 

Haunting vocals, moody guitar and emotionally vibrant sounds have caused some to compare Denise Hradecky to Elliot Smith.  Monday at the Elbo Room her realistic minimalist music is an apt way to spend a windy, late fall eve.

Disco-rockers VHS or Beta return to Chicago with L.A.-based new wave/synth-pop band Moving Units for a super-powered dance assault, this time at the Abbey Pub (11/23) (Thank god — the Louisville quartet's sold-out show at Subterranean was a sauna. Sweating bullets is so not sexy). Prepare to move your units.
