Nice interview entitled 15 Minutes with Stephen Westman. Lakeview Broadcasting company is done and a Grilled Cheese joint is opening in its place, well sort of. Wouldn't be surprised if a Wicker Park location is in the works.
Verne Troyer aka go-to-little-dude for Hollywood is coming to Enclave on Friday. Now we know Enclave isn't that exciting and Troyer, not really, but free drinks for an hour and a half, sure. (if you can get the barkeep to serve you) Oh one more thing - remember his sex tape - man, little guy can pull.
Sure Metromix and other websites tongue-wag making similar lists and yes, it's usually bar staff from the big clubs or downtown spots. AOL's list is no different. But it's delicious eye-candy, so just enjoy it. (and the winner for the whole damn (AOL) USA is a Chicago drink slinger)
Disco, New-Wave and Glam will all be in full effect tonight at the Empty Bottle. VHS or Beta's catchy tunes will get the dancefloor jumping and Tigercity's energy will do the same. Their smooth as silk sound is both sweet and juicy. There's also an after-party with the VHS or Beta guys at Sonotheque. Tickets still around for both.
Winter in Chicago can flat out suck. And while Near the Parenthesis plays weathery soundscapes (think Album Leaf) they have a tendency to warm you up.(so do a few cocktails) Emotive, fluid and entrancing, it's music for relaxing, but perfect as a chill backdrop in the club. Also joining them at Sonotheque are Chris Widman, residents Emulsion and Liz Revision and VJs Videojanitor and Amputeenie. Presented by Ramp.
Aleks and the Drummer are about to head to NYC to record a full-length with Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio fame, but first they'll be playing a show at the Bottle with Celebration. (also recently produced by Sitek)
