New Music Qucikly Examined
Kaspar Hauser, The Sons - For years we've been diggin on the folk-rock sounds of Kaspar Hauser. A few months back we got to listen to the rough cuts and liked. The polished stuff is top-notch. Peppered with blues, alt-country and pop, Kaspar Hauser's The Sons is a solid mix of Chicago styles.
PT Walkley, Mr. Macy Wakes Alone - Sufjan, Andrew Bird, etc. Movie composer and indie insider. Album flows like a dark tale of hidden Brooklyn alleys or a day in a deserted, dusty coffee house.
Nickel Eye, The Time of the Assassians - Solo work from the Strokes bassist, like this much better then the Strokes. EP length album. Singing is a little shakey here and there.
Dan Auerbach, Keep It Hid - DA is one half of the Black Keys. He plays lo-fi southern Blues Rock. He played most of the intruments and produced the album with a very organic feel. Also there's a hep video here.
